Frequently Asked Questions
I really like your Angel pictures, can I get a print?
Yes, you can. For details on how to order, please see the print order page.
Is there a screensaver of your Angel pictures?
Yes, there is. You can download it here. It is completely free!
When I order a print, will it have the watermarks, like the images in the picture gallery?
No, the watermark on the pictures in the Angel picture gallery was added to 'protect' the digital versions of my images, for copyright purposes. The print you receive will be a clean print without added watermarks or copyright marks.
When I order a print, will it have a white border, like the images in the picture gallery?
No, the white border on the pictures in the Angel picture gallery was added for display purposes, with the intent to show a digital 'matted' version of the image. The print you receive will be a full 8x10 print that will fit in any standard mat and frame for 8x10 photographs.
We use the metric system, how large is an '8x10' print in centimeters?
8x10 corresponds to roughly 20x25cm (20.32x25.40 to be precise)
Do you sell matted / framed prints? (and how do your photographs look framed?)
No, I don't. Tastes differ and the frame / mat color I like might not be what the next person likes. If you want to see some examples of how my prints look when framed, check here.
I checked the print order page, but shipping to my location should be a dollar cheaper, are you trying to rip me off?
By all means, no. I ship my prints using USPS flat fee envelope rates. For shipping within the USA, this is $5 per envelope. For most people this will actually be cheaper than using 'regular' envelopes with ZIP-to-ZIP postage rates based on envelope size and weight. The same goes for international shipping via USPS Global Priority Flat rate fee shipping.
When I order a print or merchandise from you, you will have my address on file. Can you guarantee the safety of my personal information such as my name, e-mail and phyiscal address?
I store customer information in an encrypted file on a hidden partition of an encrypted virtual disk. This method uses two different robust encryption programs, and only I know the passwords to these encrypted files and folders. Your information is absolutely safe. Please also see the privacy statement for more information.
Why don't you make your images available for download, I'd like to use some as my desktop background and/or screensaver images?
I have been pondering over whether to make the images available in digital form in an iTunes type format, i.e. allowing visitors to cherry pick downloadable high-resolution versions of images for a minimal fee. Doing so, however, has certain implications regarding the copyright on my photographs; It will make it very easy for a third party to make unauthorized use of my work, and I am not yet ready to face such an obstacle.
I have a site related to Angels, can you put a link to my site on the links page?
I might be able to do that, it depends on the site you have. I might have several reasons not to put a link up (like adult / insulting / violent content, advertising spam site, to name a few). I will review the link exchange request and will let you know whether I'd like to go ahead with it. To request a link exchange, please see the contact page.
What kind of equipment do you use to make your pictures?
I use a consumer grade digital SLR (Canon Digital Rebel) and several different lenses (Canon EFS 17-85mm, Canon EF 70-300mm, Sigma 30mm 1.4 EX DC), and most importantly, 'the eye'.
What has the charity "Kids with Cameras" to do with the Angel theme of your work on this site?
At first sight, maybe nothing. However, people like Zana Briski belong to the rare species of human Angels. If you don't know what I mean by that, watch the Academy Award winning documentary Born into Brothels and you'll understand. Furthermore, the photography parallel is fairly obvious.
I have a question that is not answered anywhere else on the site?
Cool! Please contact me via the contact page, and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
